After school he was employed by a firm of booksellers in Ludgate Circus for seven years. He also became a professional boxer and enlisted in the Territorial Army in 1938. He represented his Regiment in athletics, boxing, cricket, football, Rugby and swimming.After the war he was employed by the Ministry of Labour until his retirement in 1980. Married, with two sons, three daughters and seven grandchildren, he still goes swimming every week. Other interests include music, reading, politics, photography, all sports, and watching television.Countries visited: South Africa - Cape Town- India - Bombay, Kirkut- Egypt - Alexandria, Cairo- Iraq - Baghdad- Sicily - Catania- Transjordan- Palestine- France - Bayeux- Belgium - Brussels, Antwerp- Holland - Nijmegen- Germany - Brochum, Essen, Dortmund.
